How to safely get rid of black widows in my home in San Diego, CA?

I am sure we have an infestation of black widows inside as well as outside because they flourish here in these hot, dusty conditions. I just found a huge one under/on a chenille blanket on my sofa...any safe non-toxic ways to seriously repel them? Now I am sure they are under beds, sofas, etc... and I don't like killing anything that is just trying to live its life, but it gives me the creeps! Thanks!
